Tomorrow to Diyarbakir!

o ooooooh tomorrow morning i gotta wake up at 5am cos ima fly to diyarbakir with rasmus to visit the human rights foundation there :) wish me luck! im gonna take pics dont worry!

today i went to work and left early, as always... then i went to kizilay shopping center to complain about my phone cos i thought there was some rubbish like a small piece of paper inside the camera lens... and i couldnt get it off. so i went inside and told them i bought this yesterday and look whats inside blablabla... then everybody started looking and one of the sales clarks just removes the back cover and blows for a second and puts the cover back on! and thats it... i was so embarrassed!

then i went to take photos for visa, and then to fal cafe and taught cihan to play MÖLLIIIIIIIIIIIII! it was far from easy to find the cafe, even if it was so close to the shopping mall, like 400m away. so i was walking again with my huge map and asked somebody, then i said i wanna go to fal cafe, and fal means fortune. so this man takes me to wrong fortune telling place, then i managed to tell him that it was wrong and then he took me all the way back and was walking with me seriously like for 15min! ppl are so nice here, they always try to help! :)

Today was perfect!

I woke up late. And I was gonna go to church for the first time here, and I kind of didnt even know where it was... So first of all I left from home late, then I was wating for the bus so long. And while wating, some gasstation workers asked if I was married and were behaving really freaky. Then the bus came and saved me from them. So I took a look at my 1m x 1m map inside the bus, and finally understood where I should go off the bus. And told the driver to stop! Now I've learned it! Yippiee!
So I was standing there on the street with this huge map and stopping all the ppl and asking do you know this church! and they knew it! so i found there! And it was sooooo nice! seriously it couldnt have been better! And the people were so nice!
I was even handed lyrics to the songs and there I was.. singing in turkish! like i'd done it all my life! then I didnt understand the speech, but never mind! I'ma go there every single sunday, so maybe theres gonna be some progress. :) Then I talked to two so so so sweet girls there! Btw I arrived there 20min late, but suddenly they were also that late to start the service... I wonder if it was for me? Cos if there wasnt ppl standing outside the church i would never found it!

After that I went to work, and there was this meeting with 5 americans from Standforn university. So we sat for 3 hours but it was really interesting! And they left to Diyarbakir and I'm gonna go there on wednesday with my mentor and meet them again! So cool! :)

the Women's day demonstration

The women's day is much more celebrated here than it is in Sweden or Finland, or then I just haven't noticed. But it was a nice experience to see. We were even interviewed with my friend, unfortunately I dont remember anything what I said, but maybe it's best. Otherwise I'd still be thinking oh no why did I say this and that..

Here is one of the youngest attendants.

And this is some poster from the subway...

And the line map reminds me of the metro in helsinki....... :D

Hi everybody!

This is my usual breakfast... sometimes I eat yogurt with strawberries. I really think I should start to eat healthier; they have so many fruits in here and I think when the spring comes there is gonna be much more, Im especially waiting for the sour cherries. Luv them! We have a kitchen closet that is full of stuff that people has left in here, so far I have found some chili, black pepper AND candies! The candies were really hard and the expiring date on them was sometime in august THIS year so they must be really old. Dont candies last for like 1 year?

A couple of days ago Gio took me and my dear flatmates to a coffee place called Kuki. The place was really nice and fancy; a perfect chill out place for sitting and chatting and thats what we were doing for a couple of hours. It's also close to our flat, so I gotta bring Sara there when she comes.

They also have these amazing cakes, the picture is really bad but it's the nicest mermaid cake Ive ever seen!

And here is some greetings to my swedish friends ;) take care!

Joh. 4

21. Jeesus sanoi hänelle: "Vaimo, usko minua! Tulee aika, jolloin ette rukoile Isää tällä vuorella ettekä Jerusalemissa.
22. Te kumarratte sitä, mitä ette tunne; me kumarramme sitä, minkä me tunnemme. Sillä pelastus on juutalaisista.

Today at work

Today I was shown how to make lentilsoup. We have the most wonderful cook at the foundation! So now I know the ingredients, and what I'm supposed to do with them... But then we left the soup cooking... AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED TO IT AFTER... COS IT WAS LIKE A DIFFERENT SOUP WHEN WE ATE IT. SIMZALABIM! ABRAKADABRA! A mixer maybe??

We have always tea ready downstairs :)

And then we bring it up! Notice the glas! So this is my desk :)

And this is sweet german Franziska! Sie ist sehr schön und nett! (?)

My way to work

So this is what I pass every day, when I get off the bus. This coffee place looks so nice, I wanna go there some time. But I don't think I will manage to leave home one hour early, but we'll see.

Here's so many war related things.

I went to this hamam and asked for the priced, they take 28TL for washing and massage. So I'm thinking about to go there some day after work :) Actually I went there first one time, but didn't fully understand... So we went back there with the other interns. And I had told them that I'm gonna come back some day, so now they were thinking that they'd gonna get some customers. And bunch of washer girls started approaching us with smile on their faces... And then we just left! SO NOW WE GOTTA GET BACK ASAP. It seemed like they hade no other customers, but I'm sure they do. Cos I heard it's one of the best hamams in town, and it's also old, from 1400. :)

Welcome to the neighbourhood!

And here you see our office neighbours' balcony.

Shopping

Today we went shopping and I found this, its a turkish brand :)

This is cinnamon soap we bought from a shop near my house, its organic.

Another soap from the shoppin mall accompanied by almond oil and mintleaves.

Turkish rose lipbalm.

I also bought this hat after forgetting my hat home in Stockholm.

My neighbours have made a snowman.

I think turks are the most patriotic nation in the world they even have their flag inside the busses.

Yesterday evening Cihan took us to a nice coffee place. I ordered first latte with strawberry extract and after that apple tea, and they brought it in this cute teapot that has candle under it to keep the tea warm.

Sorry Gio that I'm uploading so many pics of you, but I want to show the coffee and you happen to be the most photogenic of us all, so what can I do?

Yesterday

Yesterday we wanted go to a rotating tower that has a restaurant on top to eat breakfast. So we walked approximately 5km there to find out that it was closed because of cold weather. So we ended up in somekind of basement in KFC to eat something. Mom was yelling about slow service, but the truth was that they hadnt even opened the place. So we waited and stopped by Migros at first. There's a really nice view on the way to the Atakule tower, I don't know the name of the mosk thoug...
The room temperature changes suddenly.. So we eather have to sleep with hats on or naked... cos the other option is to live in a sauna. Btw my mom is facinated of my little pink notebook computer, so cute, shes always surfing on her bed. :)
